6 weeks

Maya Drake is 6 weeks old this week, which is just shocking to me - I'm still trying to figure out what happened to June! She is doing great in terms of eating and sleeping, and she has started to smile, which causes me to melt every time - even at 3 am. I am slowly adjusting to parenthood and the fact that I'm not in control of my schedule anymore! This is Larkin's first full week back at work. I love being home with Maya all day and trying to figure out what she wants/needs; however, I'm always very happy to see Larkin walk back in the door every evening.

Tonight Larkin is on his own for a couple of hours as I am participating in a study on the effects of alcohol on breastmilk. I am getting picked up around 5:30 this evening, fed dinner and drinks, and then given a ride home - to top it off, they are paying me to do it! I'm going to try and figure out how to convince them that they need to run this study every Tuesday night. Oh, the things I will do in the name of research...

Maya's first Longhorn outfit (a gift from Grandma and Grandpa Klingler, who I am sure will soon be sending her Gator gear in their attempt to get all of their grandchildren to go to the University of Florida!)

Maya had a great time when Tio Benji and Aunty Amy came to visit for a week. Hopefully, we'll be able to head out to San Jose to check out their new apartment sometime this fall...
Larkin decided to do a photo shoot with Maya on the couch one evening.

At first, she decided to humor him and go along with it....

And then she got bored.

Maya's first playdate with Ava Trull.

Ava is 7 months old and was fascinated with Maya.
Here is a video of Maya "talking" on her changing table, which is her favorite place on earth!
