Showers and Nursery

Katie and I are just winding down from a wonderful weekend with Katie’s parents. Not only did we eat several great meals and watch LOTS of college basketball, but we also completed the nursery! To the surprise of our wives, Katie’s dad (Bob) and I successfully assembled both the crib and the glider (a high tech rocking chair). Check out the pictures below. You’ll also see a random photo of the baseboard in the Bean’s room. For those of you who have some semblance of fix-it skills, nailing trim to the bottom of a wall is routine. As someone who failed out of the cub scouts, I’m absolutely ecstatic that I was able to install the baseboards without knocking over the entire wall.

You’ll also see some pictures from our first two showers last weekend in California, the first in Bakersfield and the second in Los Angeles. Thanks so much to all of you who literally showered us with love and gifts, especially those of you who put the amazing events together. The Bean received so many awesome presents, including a hand puppet from England, a homemade longhorn blanket and cute little longhorn socks, a car seat, a hilarious dancing chicken, and lots of cool baby books.

Since the last post, the Bean has grown from a rutabaga to a butternut squash and is now a towering 15 inches and weighs in at 2.5 pounds.

Since I haven't posted any comments yet, first CONGRATS!! Second, I couldn't help but notice the baby bumper in your crib and wanted to let you know that there have been some recent studies out concluding that they are unsafe and lead to higher rates of infant suffocation. I know it sounds terrible, but I'm just looking out for your little bean!
