After a somewhat fitful night of sleep for all three of us, Maya is up and feeling better. We've seen one doctor this morning, who said that as long as Maya's oxygen level is up and fever is down, we should be able to check out later today.
Although it's not the full, two-toothed smile we're used to, this morning's picture shows the happiest face we've seen for the last few days.
Katie is set to defend her dissertation in the next few minutes.
I hope to have two pieces of good news to share very soon!

How wonderful to see Maya smiling. She is a gem. Must be that fabulous nature and nurture she has received.
Thanks for keeping us all updated.
Sending healing love,

We are hooked up to IVs in California and Florida in solidarity with Maya!!
Sweet little Maya. She's even her composed little self with oxygen tubes. What a dear baby girl.
And, congratulations Dr Tackett. Maya must get her stregnth and composure from her momma.
Love Susan
feel better little thing!
good luck Katie! (not that you need it but you know that's what people say when you're off to change the world)
I can only speak from a mama's perspective but watching your little one be so sick is both heart wrenching and amazing at the depths of love you can have for someone. big hugs to Maya's parents. love.
I would love to say something profound & better than what
the 3 ladies have said before me, but I can't. Maya, you and your parents are strong, beautiful, smart, & really really good people.
Loves & hugs to you all, (or is that y'all.)
Love, Nancy
sending love your way...congrats Dr. T and wish I could share a cupcake with you to celebrate! Adorable photos of Maya.
I've been trying to keep track of all this while I was in Colorado - Wendy has kept me updated every step of the way. All I can say is you are such loving parents and loving people - with Maya and with each other. Congrats to the second Dr. Tackett! All my love to you.
